Back again with tips on how to get your home ready to sell for the smallest time on the market and the largest money back!
That 8-letter word that no one wants to deal with C-L-E-A-N-I-N-G... This is probably my least favorite topic to talk to my sellers about. But it is SUPER IMPORTANT!
I know, no one loves to spend their days cleaning out their homes especially when a homeowner has lived there 10-20+ years, but it's essential to getting your home on the market. Cleaning allows buyers to see that your home is well-kept and they LOVE that! And hey, if there's a ton to do, organize a cleaning party. Call your mom, dad, sister, brother, grandma, or if it's in the budget, hire a cleaning service and get that home looking and feeling clean.
This is when you're really going to have to clean where you've probably never gone before, or just don't do on a regular basis, unless you're Monica Geller of course. (Catch that Friends reference?) These spots include changing out that air filter, removing the fluffy coating of dust on the ceiling fan, spiderwebs in those high places (trust me they're there). Another usually neglected place, baseboards. Go ahead and wipe those guys down along with kitchen cabinets. BATHROOMS! These are a MUST! Get that toilet, tub, and shower walls scrubbed. Clearly this is a heavily used spot in most homes so i get it, it's not going to look brand new. But if it's clean, buyers are happy. I promise! You will get rewarded for all of your hard work.
Here are a few of my cleaning hacks that I recommend to my clients:
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser-- so powerful and removes tough spots on almost anything. Be careful though, it can remove paint so make sure you test out a spot before you go crazy cleaning with it.
Magic Potion AKA Old English-- Those faded/ scratched areas on wood floors or cabinets, rub some of this stuff on there and it really helps to polish those areas.
